Role and Responsibilities

• Collaborate with full-time engineers on real-world machine learning projects.
• Work on projects addressing big-picture questions and building new solutions.
• Apply machine learning techniques to noisy financial data.
• Utilize Jane Street's GPU cluster with thousands of H100/H200/B200 GPUs.
• Participate in classes and activities focused on ML applications and techniques.
• Engage in a rapid-feedback trading environment for ML experimentation.

• Machine learning is a critical pillar of Jane Street's global business.
• The trading environment allows quick incorporation of new ML ideas.
• Interns share some classes with Software Engineering interns.
• Mentorship provided by full-time employees who designed the projects.

Interview Process

• Initial technical coding interview conducted over Zoom.
• On-site interview with 2-4 technical rounds.
• One interview round dedicated to assessing ML engineering skills.

Candidate Requirements

• Undergraduate, postgraduate, or PhD student with practical ML experience.
• Experience training ML models, working on ML libraries, or optimizing ML workflows.
• Strong programming skills and passion for technology.
• Intellectually curious, collaborative, and eager to learn.
• Humble and willing to ask questions and admit mistakes.
• Fluent in English.
