About the role
Join Jane Street's Machine Learning Engineer internship in New York, working on real ML projects with mentorship from full-time engineers. Gain hands-on experience applying ML to financial data using advanced GPU clusters.
Role and Responsibilities
- Collaborate with mentors on real-world machine learning projects needed by Jane Street.
- Work on projects ranging from big-picture questions to building new ML tools.
- Access and utilize a GPU cluster with thousands of H100/H200/B200 GPUs.
- Learn the application of ML to noisy financial data versus textbook ML.
- Participate in classes and activities shared with Software Engineering interns.
- Engage in a rapid-feedback trading environment for ML experimentation.
Interview Process
- Initial technical coding interview conducted over Zoom.
- On-site interview with 2-4 technical rounds.
- One interview round dedicated to assessing ML engineering skills.
Candidate Requirements
- Undergraduate or PhD student with practical ML experience.
- Experience training ML models, working on ML libraries, or optimizing ML workflows.
- Strong programming skills and passion for technology.
- Intellectually curious, collaborative, and eager to learn.
- Humble and willing to ask questions and admit mistakes.
- No prior finance background required.
