About the role
Join Jane Street as a Network Engineer intern in Singapore to gain hands-on experience maintaining and improving critical network infrastructure supporting trading and connectivity.
Role and Responsibilities
- Collaborate with full-time engineers on real-world network projects.
- Work on site expansions and new colocation builds.
- Debug routing protocols like ARP, BGP, and OSPF.
- Provision market data feeds and third-party connections.
- Automate support tasks and enhance network monitoring.
- Perform root-cause analyses and implement long-term fixes.
Learning and Mentorship
- Paired with full-time mentors for guidance and collaboration.
- Engage in projects that address big-picture network challenges.
- Learn automation to reduce errors and workload.
- Understand firm-wide network solutions and interactions.
- Develop problem-solving skills in a collaborative environment.
- Gain exposure to distributed systems and multi-vendor networks.
Candidate Requirements
- Basic understanding of network protocols: ARP, BGP, OSPF.
- Knowledge of operating system fundamentals and computer architecture.
- Strong programming skills with high learning aptitude.
- Comfortable using *nix command line.
- Intellectually curious, collaborative, and eager to learn.
- Fluent in English and strong communication skills.
