Cybersecurity Engineer - Security Operations Center (SOC)

About the role

This cybersecurity internship offers hands-on experience investigating alerts, responding to incidents, and building tools and automation. Interns collaborate with mentors on real-world projects, develop security engineering skills, and help promote cybersecurity best practices across the firm.

Responsibilities

• Investigate security alerts, analyze activity chains, and hunt for and respond to cyber threats.
• Build tools and automation that improve detection, response, workflows, and operational scalability.
• Work with diverse log sources, systems, and primarily in-house or open-source security tooling.
• Educate colleagues about cybersecurity risks, best practices, trade-offs, and sustainable security practices.

Learning And Collaboration

• Collaborate with full-time employee mentors on real-world projects supporting the firm.
• Develop strong programming practices while solving practical cybersecurity engineering problems.
• Gain an educational experience designed to provide insight into full-time work at Jane Street.
