Cybersecurity Engineer: Security Operations Center (SOC)

About the role

Full-time new graduate Cybersecurity Engineer role in Hong Kong’s Security Operations Center. You will develop and use monitoring tools, investigate and remediate security incidents, protect employees, data, and infrastructure, and promote strong cybersecurity practices. The role suits a curious, collaborative programmer who communicates clearly and learns quickly.

Responsibilities

• Develop and use monitoring tools to protect the firm’s employees, data, and infrastructure.
• Handle incident response and remediation when cybersecurity threats are identified.
• Conduct methodical, unstructured investigations to locate and repair security issues.
• Communicate threat-modeling tradeoffs and cybersecurity decisions to internal stakeholders.
• Promote strong personal cybersecurity hygiene and share learning with colleagues and new analysts.

Team and Working Approach

• Work with programmers and security experts on the Cybersecurity team.
• Consider context and tradeoffs when resolving cybersecurity issues.
• Stay informed about developments in the broader cybersecurity field.
• Adapt to changing scenarios and make challenging decisions under pressure.

Requirements

• Graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
• Strong programmer who demonstrates high potential and an aptitude for learning.
• Avidly follow cybersecurity news and understand threat modeling and associated tradeoffs.
• Comfortable managing code and configurations in version control and knowledgeable about an editor.
• Able to explain personal cybersecurity decisions and adapt to changing scenarios under pressure.
• Humble, curious, collaborative problem solver who asks questions, admits mistakes, and communicates fluently in English.
