About the role
IMC seeks a Performance Engineer Intern for Summer 2027 to apply quantitative techniques and develop AI and algorithms optimizing ultra-low-latency trading strategies.
Core Responsibilities
- Perform quantitative research on large datasets to analyze exchange technology.
- Design strategies to optimize liquidity taking and quoting for exchange microstructure.
- Develop AI agents, ETL pipelines, and algorithms in Python for trading optimization.
- Reverse-engineer and stress-test network and systems programming technologies.
- Collaborate with Traders and Hardware/Software Engineers to implement ideas.
Skills and Experience
- Current university student graduating between Sep 2027 and Jul 2028 in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language required.
- Exceptional quantitative and analytical skills.
- Motivated to compete in a highly competitive market.
- Experience with statistical modeling, machine learning, or network technology is a plus.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for cross-functional teamwork with trading and engineering teams.
Additional Information
- Interest in financial markets; prior knowledge not required.
- Internship start date: June 7, 2027.
- Base salary: $200,000; includes discretionary bonus and benefits.
