2028 Summer Financial Analyst – Secondaries & Directs Advisory Groups (Class of 2029) - New York

About the role

The 2028 Summer Financial Analyst will support Houlihan Lokey’s Secondaries and Directs Advisory Groups in New York, advising private equity sponsors and institutional investors on secondary and direct transactions. Candidates should be graduating between December 2028 and June 2029 and bring corporate finance interest, analytical ability, communication skills, and a strong work ethic.

Responsibilities

• Advise private equity sponsors and institutional investors on private equity secondary transactions.
• Support GP-led transactions, including continuation vehicles, asset restructurings, and tender offers.
• Work on LP portfolio sales and fund interest transfers across industries and investment strategies.
• Advise clients on direct transactions outside traditional fund structures across asset classes and geographies.
• Connect sponsors and management teams with suitable direct investors to support transaction execution.
• Collaborate with industry coverage, mergers and acquisitions, and financial restructuring teams.

Required Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree, graduating between December 2028 and June 2029.
• Basic knowledge of and strong interest in corporate finance.
• Strong qualitative analysis skills and ability to own workstreams end-to-end.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong work ethic and leadership skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Fundamental understanding of valuation theory, methodologies, and applications.
• Strong analytical and computer skills, including Excel.
• Ability to work cooperatively with staff at all levels.
