2028 Summer Financial Analyst – Capital Solutions (Class of 2029) - Chicago Private Debt Advisory

About the role

Summer Financial Analyst internship in Houlihan Lokey’s Chicago Private Capital Markets & Advisory team. Work alongside professionals on live financing transactions, developing cash-flow and three-statement modeling, investor outreach, diligence, capital-structure analysis, and transaction execution skills across acquisition financing, dividend recaps, refinancings, growth capital, and distressed or special situations.

Responsibilities

• Create marketing materials, including confidential information memoranda and three-statement financial models.
• Support counterparty diligence, management meetings, investor outreach, financing structures, negotiations, and transaction closings.
• Develop technical proficiency in cash-flow and three-statement modeling.
• Analyze capital structures and private credit and private equity capital markets.

Team and Transactions

• Work alongside full-time professionals on live deals across varied transaction types.
• Support acquisition financing for leveraged buyouts, dividend recapitalizations, refinancings, and growth capital transactions.
• Gain exposure to distressed and special situations financing.
• Work with clients and private-market investors across diverse capital solutions.

Required Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s and/or master’s degree, graduating between December 2028 and June 2029.
• Basic knowledge of and keen interest in corporate finance.
• Strong qualitative analysis skills and ability to own a workstream end-to-end.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong work ethic and leadership skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Fundamental understanding of valuation theory, methodologies, and applications.
• Strong analytical and computer skills, including Excel.
• Ability to work cooperatively with all levels of staff.
