About the role

Summer Financial Analyst internship in Houlihan Lokey’s Corporate Valuation Advisory Services Complex Securities team, based in Los Angeles or New York. The role supports client engagements by valuing complex financial instruments, developing quantitative and statistical models, improving internal processes, and presenting conclusions. Candidates must graduate between September 2027 and July 2028.

Responsibilities

• Develop quantitative models to value unique financial instruments, including debt and derivatives.
• Improve internal modelling processes and automate routine calculations.
• Perform statistical and data analyses using large datasets.
• Present analyses and conclusions to internal and external audiences.

Team and Practice

• Join a small, specialized, fast-growing Complex Securities team serving corporate clients across industries.
• Collaborate with junior and senior team members on client valuation engagements.

Requirements

• Graduate between September 2027 and July 2028.
• Hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree in finance, statistics, mathematics, economics, engineering, or another quantitative discipline.
• Understand financial instruments, derivatives valuation theory, and statistical methods; demonstrate strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Demonstrate proficient verbal and written communication skills and a passion for financial markets and data analysis.
• Have experience valuing instruments with nonlinear payoffs using closed-form solutions, binomial lattices, or Monte Carlo simulations in Python, R, or Matlab.
• Have experience with Python statistical analysis, Tableau data visualisation, and model or process automation using Python and VBA.

Compensation

• The stated salary range is $80,000–$120,000; actual compensation may vary based on qualifications, skills, experience, service line, and location.
