About the role

Financial Analyst in Houlihan Lokey’s Hong Kong Portfolio Valuation & Advisory Services practice. Supports valuations of illiquid debt and equity securities for investment funds, performs financial and market analysis, builds valuation models, prepares client materials, and communicates with clients, auditors, and senior professionals on active engagements.

Responsibilities

  • Support portfolio valuation teams valuing illiquid debt and equity securities held by investment funds.
  • Perform financial statement analysis and quantitative and qualitative assessments.
  • Review investment memoranda, board presentations, debt and equity agreements, and financial models.
  • Compile public filings, press releases, research reports, Bloomberg data, and other financial information.
  • Identify comparable public companies and precedent transactions using S&P Capital IQ, Bloomberg, and industry classifications.
  • Build valuation analyses, including comparable companies, precedent transactions, and discounted cash flow models.

Client and Team Work

  • Participate in due diligence meetings and discussions with clients and engagement teams.
  • Respond to auditor questions regarding Houlihan Lokey valuation analyses.
  • Prepare client deliverables and present analyses and conclusions.
  • Research economic conditions, industry trends, acquisitions, divestitures, and investment attributes.
  • Perform ad hoc research, analytics, and project team support.
  • Interact with clients and participate in the firm’s marketing efforts.

Requirements

  • English and Mandarin verbal and written communication skills are essential.
  • A Hong Kong working permit is required.
  • Strong quantitative, financial, analytical, and financial statement analysis abilities.
  • Fundamental understanding of financial valuation theory, methodologies, and applications.
  • Strong Excel modeling knowledge, including integrated cash flow modeling.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, demanding environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • One to four years of valuation, accounting firm, or investment banking experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or Applied Economics.
  • Big Four, independent valuation consulting, investment banking, or transaction advisory experience.
  • International experience is desirable but not essential.
  • Strong motivation, attention to detail, creativity, strategic thinking, and exceptional work ethic.
