Software Engineer (AI Internal Tools)

About the role

Garda Capital Partners offers a 6-month Software Engineer Intern role focused on building and improving internal AI tools and infrastructure for firm-wide use. The role involves backend services, APIs, and shared AI platform components with a focus on maintainable, production-ready systems.

Position Responsibilities

• Build and improve internal applications, backend services, APIs, and AI integrations.
• Contribute to shared AI platform features like gateway services and monitoring tools.
• Deliver production-ready features including design, testing, documentation, and deployment support.
• Evaluate AI models and tools; develop benchmarks and feedback loops.
• Identify recurring needs and create reusable components or automation.
• Collaborate with engineers, security, compliance, and users to develop robust solutions.

Qualifications & Desired Skills

• Pursuing Bachelor's in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or Quantitative Finance.
• Software development experience via coursework, internships, or projects.
• Proficient in at least one programming language; eager to learn others.
• Strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, debugging, testing, and version control.
• Interest in backend services, APIs, internal apps, or developer tooling.
• Good problem-solving skills and judgment on trade-offs in software quality and speed.

Additional Skills & Attributes

• Comfortable working in ambiguous, changing environments with iterative feedback.
• Clear communication skills for technical and non-technical collaboration.
• Interest in practical AI systems and AI-enabled development tools.
• Prior AI platform or cloud technology experience is a plus but not required.
• Interest in financial markets or investment management is beneficial but not mandatory.
