About the role

Graduate machine learning engineers join G-Research’s Technical Machine Learning team in London, working with quantitative researchers on challenging machine learning and scientific computing problems. The role combines independent and collaborative engineering, using existing tools and custom solutions to advance quantitative research, including scalable model training, performance optimisation, and exploration of new hardware and software.

Responsibilities

  • Implement ideas from published research papers.
  • Write custom libraries to train models efficiently on petabytes of data.
  • Reduce model training times by manually optimising machine learning operations.
  • Profile custom machine learning architectures to identify performance bottlenecks.
  • Evaluate the latest hardware and software in the machine learning ecosystem.

Candidate Profile

  • Work independently and collaboratively in small teams on varied engineering challenges.
  • Apply strong machine learning reasoning to develop models when standard approaches are insufficient.
  • Use object-oriented programming skills in engineering and scientific computing contexts.
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with teams possessing complementary expertise.
  • Finance experience is not necessary; candidates from non-financial backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

Benefits

  • Highly competitive compensation plus an annual discretionary bonus.
  • Lunch provided through Just Eat for Business and a dedicated barista bar.
