2027 Liability Management & Restructuring Summer Associate Program – New York

About the role

Evercore’s 2027 Summer Associate opportunity places MBA and law students in its New York Restructuring & Debt Advisory team. Associates support restructuring, recapitalization, liability management, distressed M&A, and capital-raising assignments while working closely with senior bankers and transaction parties. The role offers early responsibility across analysis, execution, and client development.

Responsibilities

• Work on restructurings, recapitalizations, exchanges, tenders, liability management transactions, distressed M&A, and non-syndicated capital raises.
• Prepare for and attend client meetings, draft client presentations, and assist with new business development.
• Build financial models and perform financial statement, credit document, valuation, industry, and competitive analysis.
• Resolve complex accounting and financial issues and conduct transaction due diligence.
• Manage analysts, oversee analysis, and support management and execution of live deal situations.
• Coordinate relationships with law firms, consultants, accounting firms, creditors, and other investment banks.

Program Structure

• Work closely with senior bankers on industry-transforming transactions around the world.
• Small deal teams provide exposure to restructuring and debt advisory work and early responsibility.
• Interact with transaction participants and help manage relationships across multiple advisory and financing parties.

Requirements

• Current first-year MBA student at a top business school or current second-year law student at a top law school.
• Several years of relevant work experience.
• Strong interest in investment banking and knowledge of corporate finance, valuation, financial accounting, and business strategy.
• Superior analytical skills and demonstrated excellence in academic coursework.
• Excellent interpersonal, presentation, written, and oral communication skills, with an ability to articulate ideas.
• Sound judgment, intellectual curiosity, strong work ethic, and an enthusiastic, outgoing, achievement-oriented character.
