About the role
As a Summer 2027 DevOps Engineer Intern in Chicago, you will join a small global DevOps team responsible for firm-wide infrastructure and platform solutions. You will deploy Kubernetes workloads, improve observability, triage alerts, support service migrations, and contribute to safe AI-assisted tooling in a high-impact role whose work reaches production.
Responsibilities
- Deploy and operate Kubernetes workloads, including containers, Pods, Deployments, Services, Ingress, and basic storage concepts.
- Use GitOps with Argo CD or an equivalent tool to reconcile, troubleshoot, and safely propose changes.
- Extend observability using OpenTelemetry concepts, Prometheus targets, Grafana dashboards, and Alertmanager routing in lower environments.
- Triage alerts, correlate issues with recent changes, document findings, and build dashboards or panels from existing metrics.
- Participate in platform upgrades and migrate services from bare metal to Kubernetes under mentorship and established runbooks.
- Contribute to AI-assisted internal tooling while verifying outputs and protecting secrets and customer data.
