About the role

Join DRW as an FPGA Intern in Chicago to design and deploy advanced trading applications using cutting-edge FPGA technology. Collaborate with cross-functional teams and gain hands-on experience in a dynamic trading environment over a 10-week internship.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and deploy proprietary FPGA solutions for trading applications.
  • Create decoders to translate raw packet data from exchanges into accessible formats.
  • Develop modules to trigger events for specific traded instruments.
  • Innovate FPGA architectures to enhance data processing capabilities.
  • Research and propose solutions to complex problems clearly and concisely.
  • Collaborate with software developers, traders, researchers, and analysts in teams.

Candidate Requirements

  • Pursuing Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in related fields with graduation between Dec 2027 and Jun 2028.
  • Exposure to FPGA development flow required.
  • Strong understanding of data structures and algorithms.
  • Eagerness to learn and understand the impact of your code.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Proficient in System Verilog, Verilog, or VHDL; working knowledge of C++ or Python.

Internship Experience

  • Complete a challenging project guided by a hardware engineer.
  • Participate in educational, social, and team-building activities.
  • Live in fully furnished apartments near the office for easy commute.
  • Build a professional relationship with an experienced mentor.
  • Complete an options course from a developer’s perspective to understand trading technology impact.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Annual base salary up to $225,000 depending on experience and skills.
  • Eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.
