About the role

This three-month internship in Deutsche Bank’s Chief Risk Office offers students practical exposure to credit, market, operational and reputational risk. Interns contribute to daily activities and special projects, develop analytical and risk-management skills, and receive formal training, mentoring and support while working across several German locations.

Responsibilities

• Gain broad insight into the Risk function through daily business activities and special projects.
• Observe market developments, identify risks and assess their key driving forces.
• Calculate potential risk exposure and support the setting of risk appetites.
• Develop mathematical models and formulate solutions mitigating financial and non-financial risks.
• Support business analysis, process optimisation, strategic change and AI-enabled transformation projects.

Potential Risk Areas

• Operational Risk Management and Credit Risk Management for business, finance, economics, law or business-law backgrounds.
• Model Risk Management, including model validation, for mathematics, computer science, natural sciences or technology students.
• Market and Valuation Risk Management and Enterprise and Treasury Risk Management within the quant area.
• Risk Change and Innovation, including AI assistants, agents and automation tools, for relevant technology or project-management interests.

Candidate Profile

• Be at least in your third semester and passionate about finance and banking.
• Study business administration, finance, economics, law, business law or a related subject.
• Alternatively, study a STEM subject, particularly mathematics, computer science, natural sciences or technology.
• Demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft 365 and other office, automation or project-management applications.
• Have strong communication skills, fluent English, teamwork abilities and enthusiasm for sharing ideas.
• Be conscientious, dedicated and highly analytical.
