Join D. E. Shaw as a Systems Engineering Intern in New York for a 12-week summer program focused on software development and infrastructure projects. Gain hands-on experience in Linux, Windows, DevOps, and security systems.
Role and Responsibilities
- Collaborate on software development and infrastructure projects including Linux and Windows management.
- Develop full-stack web applications and build solutions for software vulnerability detection.
- Administer infrastructure systems and improve platform efficiency.
- Work on projects like OS upgrade automation and security information system enhancements.
- Collaborate with Systems teams to deploy firmwide web applications.
- Projects matched to your interests and experience.
Candidate Requirements
- Enrolled in computer science, computer engineering, or related technical degree program.
- Strong foundation in computer science via internships, projects, or open-source contributions.
- Proficient in algorithms, software development, and systems infrastructure.
- Experience with Python, JavaScript, Go, or similar languages; AI-assisted coding tools.
- Problem-solving, communication, collaboration, and time management skills.
- Experience with Windows, Linux/UNIX, Cloud, Networking, or security is a plus but not required.
Program Details and Benefits
- 12-week internship from June to August 2027 in New York City.
- Monthly base salary of $21,000 plus overtime pay and $15,000 sign-on bonus.
- Travel coverage to/from internship and choice of furnished housing or $10,000 housing allowance.
- $3,300 stipend for self-study materials and $4,000 stipend for personal technology equipment.
- Open to final-year undergraduate or postgraduate students in any field.
- No prior finance experience required.
