About the role
Join D. E. Shaw as a Quantitative Analyst Intern in New York for a 12-week summer program. Work on statistical modeling and software development projects with mentorship from experienced quantitative researchers.
Role and Responsibilities
- Conduct research projects involving statistical modeling and financial data analysis.
- Write software to analyze financial data using programming languages like Python.
- Collaborate with mentors and teams including quants, developers, and senior staff.
- Engage in a data-driven research environment to develop quantitative finance skills.
Candidate Requirements
- Strong academic record in math, statistics, physics, engineering, computer science, or related quantitative fields.
- Interest or experience in data manipulation using high-level programming languages such as Python.
- Exceptional abstract reasoning, problem solving, and quantitative thinking skills.
- Prior knowledge of probability and statistics is a plus.
- Enrollment in a full-time degree program, typically approaching final year of study.
- No prior finance experience required, but interest in quantitative finance is preferred.
Program Details
- 12-week internship from June to August 2027 in New York City.
- Monthly base salary of $25,000 plus overtime pay.
- Sign-on bonus of $25,000 and travel coverage to and from the internship.
- Choice of furnished summer housing or $10,000 housing allowance.
- $3,300 stipend for self-study materials and $4,000 stipend for personal technology equipment.
