About the role

Citi’s competitive 10-week Markets Summer Analyst program in London offers penultimate-year university students three rotations across product and function. Interns support trading-floor teams, analyse market information, develop trade ideas, and learn pricing, risk management, and trade execution across asset classes. Successful analysts may be considered for full-time roles after graduation.

Program

  • Join Citi’s Markets team in London and participate in three rotations across products and functions.
  • Select a preferred area: Sales, Trading, Structuring, Quantitative Analysis, or Securitisation and Financing.
  • Rotations depend on desk availability and stated preferences, with encouragement to experience multiple Markets desks.
  • Work with trading-floor teams serving institutional clients across equities, commodities, credit, futures, and foreign exchange.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with peers on projects and pitches for trade ideas.
  • Collect and analyse macroeconomic and industry-specific information for the team.
  • Work-shadow different desks and asset classes across the trading floor.
  • Assist with internal documentation and presentation preparation.
  • Participate in discussions with product heads across the business.
  • Learn how to make prices, manage risk, and execute trades across asset classes.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled at university and expected to achieve, or have achieved, a 2:1 undergraduate degree or equivalent.
  • Be in the penultimate year of university.
  • Demonstrate finance knowledge and a strong interest in Markets.
  • Be proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and planning and organisational abilities.
  • Show intellectual curiosity, initiative, integrity, ethical decision-making, and commitment to personal development.

Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge of programming languages, particularly VBA or Python, is highly desirable.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with flexibility and interest in career mobility.
