Banking, Debt Capital Markets, Placement Analyst Internship, Frankfurt - Germany 2027

About the role

This six-month internship joins Citi’s Frankfurt Debt Capital Markets team in January 2027. The Placement Analyst will support bond and private-placement transactions for DACH financial institutions and corporate clients, prepare transaction materials, gather market information, and develop macro and credit-market updates while working with DCM, Fixed Income Sales, and Corporate & Investment Banking teams.

Responsibilities

• Support senior team members with live benchmark bond and private-placement transactions.
• Assist DACH Financial Institution Groups and Corporate Debt Group teams with daily work.
• Prepare pitch books during the preliminary stages of transactions.
• Collect market information to support client coverage and decision-making.
• Prepare term sheets and indicative pricing updates.
• Condense research into macroeconomic and credit-market updates for clients.

Requirements

• Available for a six-month internship starting in January 2027.
• Currently enrolled at a top-ranked business school or university providing an internship agreement.
• Maintain student status and a related visa covering the entire internship period.
• Demonstrate very good analytical ability and strong Microsoft Office skills.
• Communicate fluently in English.
• Show commitment to learning, teamwork, integrity, and ethical decision-making.

Preferred Profile

• German-language skills are helpful for this Frankfurt-based role.
• Bloomberg and Excel VBA skills would be an asset.
• Strong communication, planning, and organisational skills are valued.
• Intellectual curiosity and a proactive approach to creative ideas are expected.
• Interest in business and developing financial-industry knowledge is valued.
