About the role

The 2027 Summer Internship offers a software engineering opportunity on Brevan Howard’s Systematic Trading Technology team in New York. Interns build and support real-time trading platforms, market-data systems, and portfolio-manager tools while learning financial markets, completing production software development work, and collaborating with engineers, portfolio managers, and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Build and extend real-time services for order execution and trading workflow.
  • Capture, normalize, and deliver market data to systematic strategies.
  • Develop tooling and interfaces used daily by portfolio managers and traders.
  • Contribute tests, instrumentation, and monitoring for production trading systems.
  • Work through design, implementation, deployment, and production support across the full software development lifecycle.
  • Collaborate closely with engineers, portfolio managers, and business stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.

About the Team

  • Systematic Trading Technology builds and operates the live trading platform used by systematic portfolio managers.
  • The team delivers market data supporting systematic strategies and builds real-time systems behind systematic alpha.
  • Interns work directly with senior professionals and gain exposure to mission-critical production systems.

Training and Development

  • The program begins with one week of in-depth training covering financial markets and desk-related topics.
  • Training includes macroeconomics, FX, digital assets, derivatives, equities, bonds, credit, fixed income, trading strategies, and risk management.
  • Additional training covers Excel, Python, artificial intelligence tools, and large language models.
  • Interns receive talks, mentoring, social events, and opportunities to interact with experienced professionals.
  • Top-performing interns may be considered for the 2028 Graduate Program and longer-term analyst, quant, or portfolio manager paths.
