UX/UI Designer, Winter 2027 (Co-op/Internship)- 8 months

About the role

Eight-month Winter 2027 UX/UI Designer co-op/internship in BMO’s Technology group in Toronto. The role supports software development by translating user needs into technical specifications, developing and testing applications, troubleshooting systems, maintaining documentation, and applying security, performance, and release-management standards.

Responsibilities

• Translate user needs into technical specifications and document client requirements.
• Analyze, develop, test, and implement software programs and related documentation.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, and fault rectification.
• Ensure code and configurations meet security, logging, error-handling, performance, and non-functional standards.
• Evaluate technologies and assess upstream and downstream impacts on processes, data, and risk.
• Follow release-management processes and version-control standards while proposing creative solutions.

Qualifications

• Creative thinking, adaptability, learning agility, and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Quality assurance, testing, programming, cloud computing, microservices, and test-driven development.
• Technology business requirements definition, analysis, mapping, and applications integration.
• System development lifecycle knowledge, troubleshooting, and system and technology integration.
• Verbal and written communication, collaboration, relationship-building, and emotional agility.
• Typically three to five years of relevant experience and a related post-secondary degree, or equivalent combination.
