About the role
BMO Capital Markets’ New York Global Markets summer program places MFE Summer Associates on one desk for 10 weeks across sales, trading, finance, origination, securitized products, rates, or engineering. Participants receive onboarding, desk exposure, professional development, and market-focused project experience.
Program Details
- Work on one Global Markets desk for a 10-week summer period.
- Potential desks include Equity Sales and Trading, Prime Finance, Structured Notes, Rates, Origination, and Engineering.
- Complete onboarding and training with other BMO Capital Markets interns.
- Participate in Showcase Day, desk matching, teach-ins, trading games, leadership meetings, and networking events.
Responsibilities
- Develop and deploy business solutions, including pricing and risk models.
- Capture and display market data and develop spreadsheets.
- Provide insights into trading strategies using quantitative modelling.
- Improve technology, infrastructure, internal reporting, and client or management presentations.
- Complete market, portfolio, or client research and data analytics projects.
- Develop client trade ideas based on desk needs and market conditions.
Requirements
- Pursue a master’s degree in financial engineering, mathematics, physics, statistics, engineering, computer science, or a related quantitative field.
- Complete the degree in December 2027 or Spring 2028.
- Demonstrate excellent programming skills in C++, Java, MATLAB, Python, R, or Scala.
- Have strong mathematical academic training and a keen interest in financial markets.
- Show drive, sound decision-making, and the ability to work in an intense team environment.
- Possess strong communication skills.
