BMO Capital Markets offers a Winter 2027 Global Markets Analyst co-op in Toronto, providing hands-on experience across various trading and sales desks. Analysts receive onboarding, training, and professional development while working on diverse projects in a dynamic market environment.

Program Overview

  • Work within Global Markets Group including Client Coverage, Trading, Origination, and Financial Resource Management.
  • Placement on one desk based on preference and skills, such as Equity Sales, Prime Finance, or Debt Capital Markets.
  • One week onboarding and training with other co-op analysts across BMO Capital Markets.
  • Continuous professional development with teach-ins, trading games, and networking events.
  • Engage with senior leaders and peers throughout the term.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deploy business solutions like pricing and risk models.
  • Capture and display market data; develop spreadsheets and client presentations.
  • Provide insights into trading strategies using quantitative modeling.
  • Improve technology systems, internal reporting, and client/management presentations.
  • Conduct market, portfolio, or client research and data analytics.
  • Support client trade ideas, event planning, and market data organization.

Required Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled undergraduate, graduating Spring 2028-2030.
  • Strong academic record, extracurricular involvement, and finance interest.
  • Excellent research, analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with attention to detail and organization.
  • Self-motivated team player with strong work ethic and professional integrity.
  • Positive attitude, proactivity, resiliency, and results orientation.

Preferred Technical Qualifications

  • Pursuing degree in Finance, Engineering, Actuarial Science, Computer Science, Math, Physics, or Statistics.
  • Experience with front-end languages (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, Angular).
  • Experience with back-end languages (C++, C#, Java, Python, VBA).
  • Knowledge of statistical programming (R, MatLab) and databases (SQL, Oracle).
  • Familiarity with Outlook, Excel, Reuters Plus, Bloomberg, and financial news.
  • Strong Excel skills including scripting and efficient spreadsheet design.
