About the role
Four-month Commercial Banking Credit Analyst internship in Mississauga supporting lending decisions, credit assessments, portfolio monitoring, loan structuring, and client service. Interns work with experienced Commercial Bankers, develop financial analysis and risk skills, contribute to business growth, and explore a career in commercial banking.
Responsibilities
- Analyze financial information and prepare credit summaries supporting lending decisions for commercial banking clients.
- Monitor portfolio performance, compliance, industry trends, risks, opportunities, and required corrective actions.
- Support new, renewal, and extension loans aligned with client needs, bank policies, and risk requirements.
- Prepare proposals and presentations supporting new business and expanded client partnerships.
- Maintain accurate BMO system data and use analysis tools to support portfolio and client decisions.
- Identify revenue, cross-selling, share-of-wallet, and portfolio growth opportunities with relationship managers and partners.
Candidate Profile
- Enrolled in an undergraduate degree program and graduating in Spring 2028.
- Preferred minimum GPA of 3.2 out of 4.0.
- Preferred completion of at least two undergraduate finance and accounting courses.
- Strong communication, teamwork, self-motivation, attention to detail, critical thinking, analytical ability, and relationship-building skills.
- Relevant credit, lending instruments, financial operations, corporate, or banking experience is an asset.
- Must be available for the entire internship term in Mississauga.
Skills
- Foundational proficiency in financial analysis, loan structuring, and credit risk assessment.
- Foundational proficiency in data analysis tools, portfolio management, and banking operations.
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance and Microsoft Office.
