About the role
Four-month Commercial Banking Credit Analyst Internship in Burnaby, supporting lending decisions for commercial banking clients. The role develops financial analysis, credit assessment, portfolio monitoring, loan structuring, and client relationship skills while working with Commercial Bankers. Candidates must be available for the complete May 3 to August 13, 2027 internship term.
Responsibilities
- Perform financial analysis, credit assessments, calculations, and recommendations for assigned commercial banking portfolios.
- Prepare credit summaries, proposals, and presentations supporting lending decisions and new business opportunities.
- Monitor portfolio performance, compliance, industry trends, risks, opportunities, and corrective actions when required.
- Structure and support new, renewal, and extension loans aligned with client needs and bank policies.
- Build client relationships, respond to service requests, identify cross-selling opportunities, and support portfolio growth.
- Maintain accurate system data and follow credit policies, regulatory standards, and operational guidelines.

- Internship is based at 6023 Silver Drive in Burnaby, British Columbia.
- The program runs from May 3 through August 13, 2027; full-term availability is required.
- Interns work alongside experienced Commercial Bankers and receive exposure to client success and commercial lending.
- Training and coaching, manager support, and network-building opportunities are available.
Requirements
- Enrolled in an undergraduate degree program and graduating in Spring 2028.
- Preferred minimum GPA of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale.
- Preferred completion of at least two undergraduate finance or accounting classes, or equivalent experience.
- Relevant credit, lending instruments, financial operations, corporate, or banking experience is an asset.
- Foundational knowledge of financial analysis, loan structuring, credit risk, portfolio management, and banking operations.
- Strong communication, collaboration, analytical thinking, problem-solving, attention to detail, and Microsoft Office skills.
