Actuarial Analyst, Corporate Actuary, Winter 2027 (Co-op/Internship) - 4 months

About the role

Four-month Winter 2027 actuarial co-op/internship in BMO’s Corporate Actuary team in Toronto. The role supports regulatory and management reporting, actuarial calculations, model output reviews, solvency and capital assessments, and analysis for the Appointed Actuary’s opinions. Students must be enrolled in an academic program and returning to their studies.

Responsibilities

• Execute calculations and analysis supporting regulatory and management reporting and actuarial production work.
• Extract and compile actuarial data to assess investment and risk portfolio compliance with prescribed guidelines.
• Support strategic initiatives, stakeholder alignment, relationship building, and analysis-driven recommendations.
• Assist calculations supporting the Appointed Actuary’s legal responsibilities and related opinions.
• Review model outputs supporting actuarial liabilities, solvency reports, regulatory capital, and policyholder bonus recommendations.
• Analyze actuarial issues, product initiatives, economic capital, business plans, and requests from risk, legal, and policyholder services.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in an academic program and returning to studies after the co-op or internship.
• Enrolled in an actuarial program with three to four completed actuarial exams.
• Post-secondary degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Typically one to four years of relevant experience and specialized knowledge from education or business experience.
• In-depth verbal and written communication, collaboration, teamwork, analytical, problem-solving, and influencing skills.
• Ability to work mostly independently, exercise judgment, and identify, diagnose, and solve problems within established rules.

Compensation
