About the role

Actuarial Analyst intern supporting pricing and profitability analysis for BMO Life Assurance insurance products. The four-month Winter 2027 placement involves maintaining pricing assumptions, cash-flow testing, competitive analysis, product illustrations, Excel reporting, and stakeholder support. Candidates must be enrolled in actuarial science or mathematics, have passed one SOA exam, and pursue FSA/FCIA designation.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain pricing assumptions and perform cash-flow testing for assigned insurance products using actuarial technology.
  • Monitor lapse, mortality, and morbidity experience; report profitability for new products and enhancements.
  • Analyze competitor products, industry trends, company data, and opportunities in high-net-worth insurance markets.
  • Create and validate Excel spreadsheets showing product values, marketing concepts, profitability, analysis, and commentary.
  • Support insurance quotations, prepare defined-parameter illustrations, and refer complex or oversized cases appropriately.
  • Contribute to product design, strategic initiatives, management reporting, process improvements, and stakeholder coordination.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an actuarial science or mathematics degree program and returning to studies afterward.
  • Successfully completed at least one SOA examination and actively pursuing an FSA or FCIA designation.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills, work ethic, communication, collaboration, influence, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access database software.

Additional Assets

  • Knowledge of life insurance products is an asset.
  • Specialized knowledge gained through education or business experience is relevant.
