The Derivative Ops Analyst internship at BMO offers hands-on experience in OTC derivative trade lifecycle, including trade support, confirmations, settlements, and reconciliations in a fast-paced capital markets environment.

Role Overview

  • Support end-to-end lifecycle of OTC derivative transactions within Global Markets.
  • Work closely with Front Office, Operations, and external counterparties.
  • Focus on data accuracy, process discipline, and risk awareness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Validate trade bookings for accuracy and completeness.
  • Support reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
  • Assist with drafting and tracking OTC derivative confirmations.
  • Support settlement affirmation and verify cash flows.
  • Help resolve settlement breaks and exceptions.

Stakeholder Coordination

  • Collaborate with Front Office, Operations, and internal teams for issue resolution.
  • Communicate trade status, exceptions, and outstanding items clearly.
  • Build relationships to support effective trade lifecycle management.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Mathematics, or related field.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Excel; financial markets knowledge is an asset.
