About the role
A 10-week Barclays Technology Developer Summer Internship in Northampton for penultimate-year students graduating in 2028. You will design, build, test and maintain software, collaborate across teams, practise secure coding and testing, and solve complex problems using technologies such as Java, Python, SQL, cloud and DevOps.
Responsibilities
- Develop scalable, maintainable and high-performing software using industry-standard programming languages, frameworks and tools.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers and engineers to define requirements and align solutions with business objectives.
- Participate in code reviews, knowledge sharing and collaborative practices that promote software quality.
- Apply secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities and protect sensitive data.
- Implement unit testing to support reliable, readable and well-designed code.
Technology Exposure
- Potential technologies include Java, C++, C#, Python, SQL, JavaScript or TypeScript.
- You may also work with containers, DevOps, cloud, machine learning, scripting and real-time systems.
Programme And Location
- The internship lasts 10 weeks and is based in Northampton.
- The Expert Programme provides a one-year targeted, fast-track structure with job-based bespoke training from the start.
- If offered a graduate role, your location will remain the same as during the internship.
- Barclays accepts applicants requiring UK Skilled Worker visa sponsorship, subject to Home Office eligibility.
- Applicants without sponsorship eligibility need their own full-time UK work rights from June to August 2027.
