About the role

Join Barclays’ 2027 Technology Developer Summer Internship in London for 10 weeks, working on real software projects and gaining hands-on experience. You will help design, build, test, and maintain systems while developing technical expertise through bespoke training. The programme is for penultimate-year students graduating in 2028.

Role and responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable, maintainable, and high-performing software solutions.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to define requirements and align solutions with business objectives.
• Participate in code reviews, knowledge sharing, unit testing, and secure coding practices.
• Develop solutions using technologies such as Java, C++, C#, Python, SQL, JavaScript/TypeScript, cloud, and DevOps.

Programme and training

• Complete a 10-week summer internship involving real projects and hands-on experience.
• Join Barclays’ Expert Programme, a one-year targeted programme offering depth and breadth of experience.
• Receive job-based bespoke training from the start to build specialist technical expertise.
• Successful graduate programme return offers will use the same location as the internship.

Requirements

• Be in the penultimate year of university and graduating in 2028.
• Demonstrate genuine interest in technology, strong problem-solving skills, and motivation to deliver innovative solutions.
• Work to high standards, support continuous improvement, and collaborate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders.

Location and work eligibility

• The role is based in London, at Barclays’ Canary Wharf hub.
• Candidates requiring UK visa sponsorship may be considered if they meet Skilled Worker visa eligibility criteria.
• Candidates without sponsorship eligibility must have full-time UK work rights from June 2027 to August 2027.
