About the role
Join Barclays’ one-year Technology Developer Graduate Programme in Northampton. You will design, develop, test, maintain and improve software supporting business, platform and technology capabilities. The programme provides job-based bespoke training and specialist technical development, with opportunities to work across modern technologies while collaborating with product, design and engineering colleagues.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test and maintain scalable, maintainable and high-performance software solutions.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers and engineers to define requirements and develop solution strategies.
- Participate in code reviews and promote code quality, knowledge sharing and effective unit testing.
- Apply secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities and protect sensitive data.
- Use engineering methodologies, programming languages, frameworks and tools to deliver technology capabilities.
- Manage risks, follow relevant regulations and escalate policy or procedure breaches appropriately.
Technology Environment
- Potential technologies include Java, C++, C#, Python, SQL, JavaScript and TypeScript.
- The role may involve containers, DevOps, cloud, machine learning, scripting and real-time systems.
- Solve complex problems for Barclays’ clients, customers and colleagues through innovative software solutions.
Programme Details
- Join a one-year targeted, fast-track expert programme offering depth and breadth of experience.
- Receive job-based bespoke training from the start to develop specialist technical expertise.
- Work full-time in the UK from August 2027 to August 2028.
- Successful applicants may receive skilled worker visa sponsorship if they meet Home Office eligibility criteria.
Requirements
- Be a recent graduate or soon-to-be graduate with a strong degree or expected degree.
- Achieve the degree before June 2027 to be considered for the opportunity.
- Demonstrate genuine interest in technology, strong problem-solving skills and motivation to deliver innovative solutions.
- Applicants without visa sponsorship must have their own legal right to work full-time in the UK.
