2027 Technology Cyber and Security Summer Internship Programme Knutsford

About the role

This 10-week summer internship gives penultimate-year university students in Knutsford hands-on experience supporting Barclays’ Chief Security Office. You’ll explore technology, controls, threat intelligence, and secure engineering while helping manage risk, protect customers, and keep services resilient.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with security experts to reduce risk and protect customers, clients, and the business.
• Support cross-functional business projects and initiatives across the security function.
• Identify opportunities to improve security delivery through agile and intelligence-led approaches.
• Clearly articulate improvement opportunities to help drive positive change across the function.

Programme Experience

• Work on real projects and take on meaningful responsibilities during the 10-week internship.
• Receive full support while gaining hands-on experience and building technical skills.
• Learn how technology, controls, threat intelligence, and secure engineering support resilience and risk management.
• Build lasting connections while developing an understanding of Barclays’ security environment.

Requirements

• Be in your penultimate year of university and graduating in 2028.
• Demonstrate a genuine interest in technology and strong problem-solving skills.
• Show drive to deliver innovative solutions.

Location and Work Eligibility

• The internship is based in Knutsford, England, with the location retained for any subsequent graduate offer.
• Barclays accepts applicants requiring UK skilled worker visa sponsorship, subject to Home Office eligibility criteria.
• Applicants unable to obtain sponsorship must have full-time UK work rights from June 2027 through August 2027.
