About the role
Ten-week London summer internship in Barclays’ Markets division for students in the penultimate or final year of any degree. Interns learn about financial markets, rotate across Sales, Trading and Structuring desks, complete real projects, support clients and business initiatives, and develop skills through mentoring and training.
Programme and rotations
- Complete rotations across Financial Resource Management, Client Strategy, Credit, Equities and Equity Financing.
- Rotate through Foreign Exchange, Rates, Structuring and Securitised Products desks.
- Take on immediate responsibility for real projects with guidance from a mentor and line manager.
- Learn about Barclays’ global businesses, products, services and financial markets during the summer.
Responsibilities
- Conduct small research projects supporting strategic decision-making within the Global Markets division.
- Prepare presentations and reports communicating research findings to senior colleagues and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business initiatives and new product development.
- Support client relationships, answer product and service questions, provide customer service and process transactions.
- Help develop financial models and strategies supporting decision-making across the Global Markets division.
- Participate in training and development programmes to enhance relevant skills and knowledge.
Candidate requirements
- Be in the penultimate or final year of a degree in any discipline.
- Demonstrate an interest in business or finance and curiosity to learn.
- Show resourcefulness, teamwork, enthusiasm and an entrepreneurial spirit.
- Extracurricular involvement may demonstrate relevant personal qualities.
- Visa sponsorship may be available subject to UK Skilled Worker visa eligibility criteria.
- If sponsorship is unavailable, hold full-time UK work rights from June 2027 through August 2027.
