About the role

Barclays’ London Sales, Trading and Structuring Graduate Programme develops analysts through intensive initial training and desk-based experience across global markets. Graduates may join sales or trading teams, supporting client solutions, market monitoring, pricing, research, risk management and product opportunities while building communication, quantitative and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support sales colleagues before managing an individual client set and developing solutions to client needs.
  • Monitor markets, formulate trade ideas, and analyse fundamental and technical data.
  • Attend client meetings or calls alongside traders, salespeople and research colleagues.
  • Support trading through market monitoring, product pricing, trade reporting, P&L analysis and trading-book risk management.
  • Conduct research projects, prepare presentations and reports, and support strategic decisions for the global markets division.
  • Identify opportunities, develop business cases, support product launches, and manage client relationships and transactions.

Programme structure

  • Complete intensive initial training before joining a specific sales or trading desk.
  • Potential business areas include commodities, credit, equities, foreign exchange, rates, structuring and securitised products.
  • Other potential areas include client capital management, client strategy, eFICC trading, equity financing and municipals.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development programmes to build relevant skills and knowledge.

Role expectations

  • Work to high standards, complete prescribed activities on time, and contribute to continuous improvement.
  • Build technical expertise, collaborate across functions, and communicate complex or sensitive information clearly.
  • Manage risks, follow policies and procedures, escalate breaches, and comply with applicable rules and codes of conduct.
  • Make evidence-based judgments, solve problems using technical experience, and advise decision-making within the assigned area.
  • Depending on responsibilities, guide colleagues, coordinate resources, and support professional development.

Requirements and eligibility

  • Degree or expected degree in any subject.
  • Motivation, curiosity, good work ethic, and willingness to learn and develop a technical skill set.
  • Interest in business and finance is desirable.
  • The role is regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.
  • Visa sponsorship is available where applicants meet UK Home Office skilled-worker visa eligibility criteria.
  • Applicants without visa eligibility need full-time UK work rights from their February or July 2027 intake through July 2029.
