About the role

Join Barclays’ London risk division through a permanent, full-time higher apprenticeship. You’ll monitor the bank’s risk profile, identify and manage risks, support informed decisions, and complete a Compliance and Risk Officer Apprenticeship while earning £25,200 annually plus benefits. The programme runs from August 2027 to August 2031.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor the bank’s risk profile and identify, assess, and manage risks affecting business activities.
  • Conduct small research projects supporting risk identification and strategic decision-making.
  • Prepare presentations and reports communicating findings to senior management.
  • Review and challenge business propositions, supporting risk management and informed decision-making.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and manage business and client relationships with decreasing supervision.
  • Use financial models, defined procedures, and factual analysis to deliver operational and risk-related work.

Training and Support

  • Work toward a Compliance and Risk Officer Apprenticeship alongside practical, full-time employment.
  • Participate in training and development programmes to build relevant skills and knowledge.
  • Receive support from a Programme Support Manager, People Leader, and specialist subject-matter expert.
  • A different apprenticeship may be substituted if it becomes more relevant before the programme begins.

Selection Process

  • Barclays reviews applications before inviting eligible candidates to complete online assessments.
  • Candidates complete an eligibility survey following the online assessment stage.
  • In-person assessment days include a group activity and interview from October 2026.
  • Successful and unsuccessful candidates receive an outcome and feedback.

  • The role is based at Barclays’ London hub in Canary Wharf.
  • The programme provides opportunities to explore functions across a global financial institution.
