About the role

A permanent, full-time Glasgow apprenticeship combining practical risk work with a Compliance and Risk Officer qualification. You will monitor banking risks, analyse information, support informed decisions, and develop professionally while earning £25,200 annually plus benefits. The programme runs from August 2027 to August 2031.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Monitor the bank’s risk profile, identify risks, and support risk management activities.
  • Conduct research projects supporting risk identification and strategic decision-making.
  • Prepare presentations and reports communicating findings to senior management.
  • Review and challenge business propositions while supporting informed risk decisions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and manage stakeholder and client relationships progressively independently.
  • Use financial models and strategies to support risk management and decision-making.

Programme and Support

  • Work towards a Compliance and Risk Officer Apprenticeship alongside full-time employment.
  • Receive practical workplace experience combined with theoretical learning and professional qualification study.
  • Participate in training and development programmes to build relevant skills and knowledge.
  • Receive support from a Programme Support Manager, People Leader, and specialist subject expert.

Eligibility and Requirements

  • Have SQA Highers at BBBB or equivalent qualifications.
  • Meet applicable Government apprentice funding requirements for Scotland.
  • Have the legal right to work throughout August 2027 to August 2031 without gaps or future visa dependency.
  • Reside in Scotland from 1 August 2027 and satisfy the applicable three-year residence requirement, subject to exceptions.
  • Have no prior study, training, qualifications, work-based competence, or funding that makes you ineligible.
  • Demonstrate commitment, enthusiasm, willingness to work hard, and openness to developing capabilities.

Application Process

  • Barclays reviews applications before inviting candidates to complete online assessments.
  • Eligible candidates complete a survey confirming their apprenticeship eligibility.
  • In-person assessment days include a group activity and interview from October 2026.
  • Candidates receive an outcome and feedback after the assessment process.
