About the role

A 10-week Barclays summer internship in Manchester within Retail, Business and Customer Banking. Interns gain hands-on experience through research, product development, customer support and business initiatives, while receiving tailored training, mentoring, feedback and networking opportunities. The programme is designed for students graduating in 2028.

Responsibilities

• Conduct research projects supporting strategic decisions in retail banking.
• Prepare presentations and reports communicating research findings to senior colleagues.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on business initiatives and product development.
• Identify opportunities, develop business cases, and support new product launches.
• Support client relationships, customer enquiries, transactions and complaint resolution.
• Contribute to financial models and strategies supporting retail banking decisions.

Training and Development

• Participate in tailored training and development programmes throughout the internship.
• Build relationships with peers and leaders through mentoring and networking.
• Receive feedback and opportunities to contribute through volunteering activities.
• A successful internship may lead to a graduate programme return offer.

Requirements

• Be in the penultimate year of university when applying.
• Graduate from university in 2028.
• Demonstrate enthusiasm, drive and a solutions-focused approach to problem-solving.
• Show a strong focus on identifying opportunities and putting clients first.

Location and Work Eligibility

• The internship is based in Manchester, Greater Manchester, England.
• Successful applicants may receive UK skilled worker visa sponsorship if eligible.
• Applicants without sponsorship eligibility need full-time UK work rights from June to August 2027.
• Any graduate programme return offer would be based at the internship location.
