About the role
Four-year, permanent, full-time Barclays apprenticeship in Manchester combining paid work in Business Banking with a Financial Services Professional Degree Apprenticeship. You’ll support customers and small and medium-sized businesses, develop practical banking experience, and receive structured support while working towards a professional qualification without a student loan.
Programme and support
- Work full-time in Barclays UK Business Banking while studying for a Financial Services Professional Degree Apprenticeship.
- Receive a salary from day one in a permanent role, alongside practical experience and academic learning.
- Receive support from a Programme Support Manager, People Leader, and specialist subject-matter expert.
- The apprenticeship qualification may change if another programme becomes more relevant to the role.
Responsibilities
- Support customers and small and medium-sized businesses with tools, guidance, and financial support.
- Conduct small research projects, prepare presentations and reports, and support strategic decision-making.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on business initiatives, products, services, and market opportunities.
- Support client relationships, customer service, transactions, product enquiries, and complaint resolution with decreasing supervision.
- Help develop and implement financial models and strategies supporting banking decisions.
- Work within procedures, manage relevant risks and controls, and escalate policy breaches when required.
Eligibility requirements
- Achieve three A-levels at BBB or equivalent.
- Have GCSE Mathematics at grade 6 and English Language at grade 4.
- Meet applicable UK Government apprenticeship funding requirements, including the three-year residence requirement subject to exceptions.
- Have the legal right to work throughout August 2027 to August 2031, without gaps or reliance on future visa applications.
- Have no prior study, training, qualifications, apprenticeship, relevant prior work-based competence, or funding that creates ineligibility.
- Demonstrate commitment, enthusiasm, willingness to work hard, and readiness to develop and think differently.
Application process
- Barclays reviews applications before inviting candidates to complete online assessments.
- Candidates complete an eligibility survey after the online assessments.
- In-person assessment days include a group activity and interview from October 2026.
- Successful and unsuccessful candidates receive an outcome and feedback.
