About the role

Barclays offers a permanent, full-time Operations Analyst apprenticeship in London, combining operational banking work with a Data Scientist Degree Apprenticeship. You’ll support transaction monitoring, KYC, reconciliations, incident management and process improvement while earning £25,200 plus benefits and receiving structured support from programme and specialist colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • Support day-to-day operations and provide insights that help colleagues make informed decisions.
  • Perform KYC tasks in line with Client Due Diligence and anti-money laundering policies.
  • Monitor transaction flows, trade updates and exception queues for timely, accurate system records.
  • Address incident, problem and change management issues to improve banking services.
  • Support operational process improvements, best practices, systems enhancements and new ways of working.
  • Reconcile cleared-derivatives fees and complete complex customer and product processing activities.

Working Approach

  • Meet stakeholder and customer needs through operational excellence and effective customer service.
  • Follow defined procedures, complete activities promptly, and select appropriate alternatives from established options.
  • Manage operational risk and controls, escalating policy breaches and following relevant rules, regulations and conduct codes.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, stakeholders and customers to address needs, including sensitive operational issues.
  • Build understanding of your role, team integration and other teams’ contributions to wider objectives.
  • Participate in training and development programmes to strengthen skills and knowledge.

Programme Details

  • Permanent, full-time employment with salary from day one alongside a Data Scientist Degree Apprenticeship.
  • The programme combines theoretical learning with practical work and provides a professional qualification without a student loan.
  • Support includes a Programme Support Manager, People Leader and expert in your specialist subject.
  • The programme runs from August 2027 to August 2031.
  • The role is based at Barclays’ London hub in Canary Wharf.

Eligibility

  • Three A-levels at grades BBC are required.
  • GCSE qualifications in Maths and English at grade C (4), or equivalent qualifications, are required.
  • Meet Government apprentice funding requirements, including a three-year residence requirement subject to applicable exceptions.
  • Have the legal right to work for the full programme duration, without gaps or reliance on future visa applications.
  • Have no prior study, training, qualifications, apprenticeship, relevant work learning or funding that makes you ineligible.
  • Demonstrate commitment and enthusiasm, with readiness to work hard and think differently.
