Investing and Lending Summer Internship Programme 2027 London

About the role

Ten-week London summer internship in Barclays’ Investing and Lending division, part of the Corporate and Investment Bank. You will gain exposure to relationship lending, credit analysis, transaction execution, sustainability-linked structuring and portfolio decisions while supporting research, client engagement, product initiatives and cross-functional projects. The programme is intended for penultimate-year students.

Programme and learning

• Join an international Investing and Lending team spanning the UK, US, EMEA and APAC.
• Receive immediate responsibility on real projects, supported by a mentor and line manager.
• Understand Barclays’ core relationship lending products for Investment Bank clients.
• Learn the transaction lifecycle from origination and structuring through documentation and execution.
• Develop credit analysis, sustainability-linked structuring and portfolio commercial decision-making skills.
• Support client engagement and develop a client-focused approach to service delivery.

Responsibilities

• Conduct small research projects, prepare presentations and reports, and support strategic decision-making.
• Collaborate with senior management and cross-functional teams to implement research findings and business initiatives.
• Identify opportunities, develop business cases, and support new product and service launches.
• Support client relationships across International Corporate Banking and Investment Banking.
• Respond to product and service questions, process transactions, and provide customer service support.
• Contribute to financial models and strategies supporting investing and lending decisions.

Requirements

• Be in the penultimate year of a degree in any discipline.
• Work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Demonstrate commercial awareness and a client-focused mindset.
• Digest financial information and make informed, informative suggestions.

UK work authorisation

• Barclays accepts applicants requiring visa sponsorship, subject to Home Office Skilled Worker visa eligibility.
• Applicants without sponsorship eligibility must hold full-time UK work rights from June through August 2027.
