About the role
Join Barclays’ 3–6-month off-cycle internship in Frankfurt, supporting Investing and Lending across the Corporate and Investment Bank. Develop credit analysis, lending-transaction, portfolio, product-structuring and client-service skills while contributing to research, strategic decisions, business initiatives and tailored lending solutions alongside international teams.
About the Team
- Investing and Lending is Barclays’ centre of excellence for relationship lending across the Corporate and Investment Bank.
- The team manages products, structures and executes tailored lending solutions, and oversees portfolios for Investment Bank clients.
- You will work within an international team spanning the UK, US, EMEA and APAC.
Responsibilities
- Conduct small research projects supporting strategic decisions, and prepare presentations and reports communicating findings.
- Collaborate with senior management to apply research findings and partner with International Corporate and Investment Banking clients.
- Support cross-functional teams on business initiatives and identify opportunities for new investing and lending products.
- Develop business cases and support the deployment and launch of new products and services.
- Support client relationships, answer product and service questions, process transactions, and provide customer service.
- Contribute to financial models and strategies supporting investing and lending decisions, with decreasing supervision.
Learning and Development
- Build understanding of Barclays’ core relationship lending products for Investment Bank clients.
- Gain exposure to transaction lifecycles, from origination and structuring through documentation and execution.
- Develop core credit analysis skills and learn sustainability-linked structuring.
- Develop a holistic approach to commercial decision-making and portfolio management.
- Build client engagement skills and a client-focused mindset for tailored service delivery.
- Participate in training and development programmes to enhance relevant skills and knowledge.
Requirements
- Be in the penultimate or final year of a degree in any discipline.
- Be fluent in English.
- Work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Digest financial information and make informative suggestions.
- Demonstrate commercial and client awareness.
Preferred Qualifications
- German language skills are desirable.
