About the role
A 10-week London internship in Barclays’ Global Transaction Banking division for penultimate-year students. Interns gain experience in payment products, product management, research, client support and risk controls while working on real projects with mentors, line managers and cross-functional colleagues across corporate banking, technology, operations, compliance and legal.
Responsibilities
- Conduct research projects supporting strategic decisions, and prepare presentations and reports communicating findings.
- Support development of payment solutions for global companies and end-to-end product management with risk controls.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and contribute to business initiatives and new product opportunities.
- Support client relationships, answer product and service questions, and process transactions under decreasing supervision.
- Help develop business cases and support deployment and launch of new transaction banking products and services.
Programme And Development
- Receive immediate responsibility on real projects, supported by a mentor and line manager.
- Participate in training and development programmes to enhance finance, business and transaction banking knowledge.
- Gain exposure to payment products and their importance within Barclays’ Corporate Banking offering.
- Build networks with transaction banking experts and colleagues across banking, sales, operations, technology, compliance and legal.
- Develop understanding of global commerce, working capital and financial solutions across the corporate value chain.
Team And Location
- Global Transaction Banking serves corporates, financial institutions, payment providers, alternative finance companies and small and medium-sized enterprises.
- The team operates across the UK, Europe, Asia-Pacific and the United States.
- The role is based in London, at Barclays’ Canary Wharf global headquarters.
- If accepted onto the graduate programme, the base location will match the internship location.
Requirements
- Applicants must be in the penultimate year of a degree in any discipline.
- Interest in finance and business is desirable.
- Barclays values resourcefulness, teamwork, enthusiasm and an entrepreneurial spirit.
- Extracurricular activities may demonstrate the desired skills and qualities.
Work Eligibility
- Barclays accepts applications requiring UK visa sponsorship, subject to Home Office Skilled Worker visa eligibility.
- Applicants without sponsorship eligibility must have full-time UK work rights from June 2027 through August 2027.
