About the role

Ten-week summer internship in Barclays’ Global Transaction Banking division, based in New York. Interns support payment-product research, product development, client and stakeholder initiatives, and transaction banking operations while learning end-to-end product management and risk controls. The program includes mentoring, training, real project responsibility, and exposure to potential Corporate Banking careers.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research projects supporting strategic decisions, and prepare presentations and reports communicating findings.
  • Support payment-solution development and end-to-end product management, including appropriate risk controls.
  • Identify opportunities, develop business cases, and support the launch of new transaction banking products and services.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, senior management, technology partners, service partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Support client relationships, answer product and service questions, provide customer service, and process transactions.
  • Manage risk, follow policies and procedures, escalate breaches, and contribute to strengthening controls.

Program Experience

  • Receive immediate responsibility on real projects, supported by a mentor and line manager.
  • Gain insight into payment products and their importance within Barclays’ Corporate Banking offering.
  • Build knowledge of global transaction banking products, services, processes, and digital working-capital solutions.
  • Participate in training and development programs designed to enhance skills and business knowledge.
  • Work with teams covering payments, control, change, data, customer experience, and digital initiatives.

Requirements

  • Be pursuing an undergraduate degree and have a target graduation date within one year after the internship concludes.
  • Demonstrate analytical ability, including some experience translating or interpreting data.
  • Communicate effectively and show resourcefulness, teamwork, enthusiasm, and an entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Applicants must currently be authorized to work full-time in the United States.
  • Applicants are responsible for completing documentation supporting optional or curricular practical training, where applicable.
