About the role
Barclays’ Houston Banking Associate Summer Internship offers MBA students an 8–10-week introduction to investment banking. Interns work with industry, product, or geographic teams on live deals and proposals, developing financial models, valuations, research, due diligence, and client materials while receiving training, mentorship, and exposure to corporate transactions.
Responsibilities
- Support live deals, client pitches, and corporate client advice across M&A, capital raising, structured solutions, and risk management.
- Develop financial analyses, models, valuations, industry research, client due diligence, offering memoranda, and new-business presentations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support investment-banking initiatives and client objectives.
- Identify opportunities, develop business cases, and support new investment-banking product and service launches.
- Manage client relationships and respond to product and service questions under decreasing supervision.
- Participate in training and development activities while learning from experienced investment-banking professionals.
Program Experience
- Gain broad exposure to different clients, transactions, and specialist investment-banking areas.
- Work within an industry, product, or geographic group on live transactions and deal proposals.
- Receive guidance from a mentor and line manager throughout the internship.
- Develop financial models and strategies supporting investment-banking decision-making.
- Build skills in complex analysis, risk management, controls, stakeholder communication, and collaboration.
Candidate Requirements
- Currently pursuing an MBA degree and graduating between December 2027 and June 2028.
- Demonstrated interest in business and finance, with curiosity and enthusiasm for learning.
- Resourcefulness, teamwork, and an entrepreneurial spirit are valued.
- A GPA of 3.2 or above is preferred.
- Extracurricular involvement may demonstrate relevant personal qualities.
