About the role
Barclays’ 10-week Technology Developer Summer Internship in Whippany offers penultimate-year students hands-on software development experience supporting banking operations, data, transactions, and customers. Interns will build scalable solutions, collaborate with cross-functional teams, practise secure coding and testing, and learn alongside technology professionals working with machine learning, generative AI, and fintech.
Responsibilities
- Develop high-quality, scalable, maintainable, and performance-optimized software using industry-aligned languages, frameworks, and tools.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to define requirements and align solutions with business objectives.
- Participate in code reviews and promote code quality, knowledge sharing, and effective unit testing practices.
- Apply secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities and protect sensitive data.
- Design and deliver software capabilities supporting customers, colleagues, platforms, and business operations.
Program and location
- The internship lasts 10 weeks and provides hands-on experience through meaningful technology projects.
- Interns receive full support and learn alongside industry experts in machine learning, generative AI, and fintech.
- The role is based in Whippany, New Jersey, at Barclays’ technology workplace.
Eligibility
- Applicants must be in their penultimate year and graduate between December 2027 and June 2028.
- A minimum GPA of 3.2 is required.
- Applicants should have a strong foundation in computer science or a related field.
- Candidates should demonstrate programming, development tools, systems architecture, problem-solving, and solution-design knowledge.
