About the role
Three-to-six-month off-cycle internship in Barclays’ Milan Markets division, offering intensive training and desk-based exposure to global markets. You will support research, market monitoring, analysis, client activity and product initiatives while developing communication, quantitative and analytical skills and gaining deeper project experience than a summer internship.
Responsibilities
- Research industries and products, summarising findings for the team and supporting strategic decision-making.
- Monitor markets, analyse fundamental and technical data, and help formulate trade ideas.
- Prepare presentations and reports communicating research findings to colleagues and senior management.
- Support client meetings, calls, product queries, transaction processing and customer service activities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on business initiatives, products, services and financial models.
Programme and Training
- Complete intensive training providing foundational skills and knowledge before joining an assigned desk.
- Follow a structured, project-based programme with deeper exposure than a summer internship.
- Participate in ongoing training and development activities to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Build understanding of global markets while developing communication, quantitative and analytical capabilities.
Markets Division
- Markets helps institutional investors identify opportunities, manage risk and generate portfolio returns.
- Teams provide market insights, execution services, financing solutions and tailored risk management for clients.
- The Milan team is part of an international finance organisation providing advisory, capital raising and financing services.
Requirements
- Be in the penultimate or final year of a degree in any discipline.
- Demonstrate fluent English and Italian language skills.
- Show interest in business or finance and curiosity to learn.
- Resourcefulness, teamwork, enthusiasm and an entrepreneurial spirit are valued.
- Extracurricular involvement may demonstrate the desired personal qualities.
