About the role

Join Barclays’ Global Markets analyst programme in Tokyo. Candidates must complete an undergraduate or postgraduate degree between September 2027 and June 2028. You will receive intensive training and develop markets, communication, quantitative and analytical skills while supporting clients, trading activities, product pricing, research, risk management and new business opportunities across major asset classes.

Role and responsibilities

  • Analyze client needs and develop solutions while monitoring markets and formulating trade ideas.
  • Perform fundamental and technical data analysis, research projects, presentations and reports supporting strategic decisions.
  • Attend client meetings and calls with traders, salespeople, structurers and research colleagues.
  • Participate in product pricing, trade reporting, P&L analysis and management of trading-book risk.
  • Identify opportunities, develop business cases, and support new product and service launches.
  • Manage client relationships, answer product questions and process transactions with decreasing supervision.

Training and progression

  • Begin your career as a salesperson or trader after completing intensive initial training.
  • Participate in formal and informal training designed to build relevant knowledge and skills.
  • Receive detailed performance coaching and feedback throughout the analyst programme.
  • Expand your network and develop leadership skills through programme opportunities.
  • Dedicated programme managers will support and advocate for you during your first several career years.
  • The programme provides a visible path toward promotion to assistant vice president.
