Investment Banking Graduate Programme 2028 Tokyo

About the role

Join Barclays’ Tokyo Investment Banking Graduate Programme, supporting corporate clients across mergers and acquisitions, capital raising, financing, and risk management. After several weeks of intensive training, graduates join coverage or product groups, contribute to live deals and business development, and develop financial analysis, modelling, valuation, research, and stakeholder communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Participate in day-to-day investment banking activities across diverse clients, transactions, and specialist areas.
• Collaborate on live deals and client pitches, helping deliver structured solutions for corporate clients.
• Perform financial analysis and modelling, valuation, industry research, business evaluation, and strategic assessment.
• Support business development by identifying opportunities and developing business cases for products and services.
• Manage client relationships, answer product and service questions, and process transactions with decreasing supervision.
• Work with cross-functional teams, communicate with stakeholders, and support business initiatives.

Training and Placement

• Complete several weeks of intensive training at the beginning of the programme.
• Join a coverage or product group and work on live deals after completing initial training.
• Gain exposure to mergers and acquisitions, debt and equity origination, loans, capital raising, structured solutions, and risk management.

Eligibility

• Pursue an undergraduate or postgraduate degree with anticipated completion between September 2027 and June 2028.
• Disclose current visa status and whether Barclays sponsorship is required for the role.
• Demonstrate resourcefulness, teamwork, enthusiasm, and an entrepreneurial spirit, potentially through extracurricular activities.

Preferred Qualifications

• A keen interest in finance and business is ideally sought.
• Prior coursework or experience in accounting is strongly recommended.
