About the role
As an Applied AI Intern at BAM, you will spend 10 weeks researching and implementing generative AI solutions for investment teams. The role covers analytics research, idea generation, and developing systems that store, retrieve, and derive insights from textual data, using machine learning, programming, and data-processing skills.
Responsibilities
- Research and implement generative AI solutions that help investment teams work more efficiently.
- Support investment teams across asset classes with AI-powered research and tools.
- Participate in analytics activities spanning research, idea generation, and system development.
- Develop systems to store, retrieve, and derive insights from textual data.
Program and Location
- Complete a hands-on 10-week internship focused on complex, real-world AI problems.
- Opportunities are available in BAM’s New York office.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or master’s student graduating between December 2027 and May 2028 in a relevant quantitative field.
- Demonstrated programming and data-processing skills using Python, NumPy, pandas, scikit-learn, matplotlib, and SQL.
- Strong understanding of statistical and machine learning concepts.
- Familiarity with ETL tools and managing code repositories using GitHub.
- Experience training or fine-tuning large language and embedding models and building applications with them.
- Ability to communicate technical subjects clearly and collaborate in ambiguous, results-driven environments.
Preferred Experience
- Experience with vector databases, OpenSearch, Apache Airflow, AWS, Spark, or Databricks.
- Experience with deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, Keras, or PyTorch.
- Prior AI research experience.
